Everything You Need to Know About Dabbing and Dab Rigs
Dabs are concentrated forms of legal herbs or plants. Concentrates are a more efficient and potent method to consume your herbs. Dabs are manufactured by extracting chemical components using solvents in a safe manner. This results in a sticky oil that is known as wax, shatter, or budder.
The dabbing craze has swept across the smoking community like wildfire. Despite the fact that it has been around for a long time, it has only lately become popular.
Concentrates, unlike dried plants that may be smoked or vaporised, must be dabbed. The procedure may be a little perplexing for those of you who are new to the scene. This is particularly true since most head stores offer a plethora of dabbing items, and you may not know what you need.
To keep you up to current with dabbing, this piece has been updated from its initial 2017 form.
What is the Process of Dabbing?
Instead of conductive heating, dabbing employs convective heating. Because it does not expose your herb to a high heat, convective is healthier, smoother, and less wasteful.
Dabbing is broken down into two steps. The first is the use of a torch to heat the nail. The dab is heated by the nail in the second. The resultant vapour is breathed, and there you have it! You'll receive a powerful yet smooth impact.
Is a Dab Rig Required for Dabbing?
While there are a variety of improvised techniques to dab, we do not advise it. Converting your bong into a dab rig with basic dab equipment is the way to go for novices.
While this is a temporary fix, dab rigs are specific pipes that you should use. Dab rigs resemble conventional water pipes, but they will have a few additional elements protruding.
Components of a Dab Rig
When you're ready to smoke, you place the concentrates on your nail. This is found in the centre of the bowl. Nails may be purchased individually, but make sure you acquire the correct size for your work.
Dome: While not all dab rigs have a dome, the majority do. It's just a nail cover that helps hold the vapour in place. You don't want to lose any of the focused impact while heating your dab!
Joints are found on all dab rigs. At times, it's at a 90-degree angle, and other times, it's at a 45-degree angle. This aids in the concentration of your vapour.
A modest torch would usually enough, but more experienced smokers may upgrade to bigger propane torches that heat the nail more quickly.
Dabber: A dabber is a tool that is used to put a dab on the concentration nail. It may be made of glass, titanium, or ceramic.
Finally, I'll show you how to dab!
Step 1: Prepare your nails by heating them.
Turn on your dab torch and focus the flame squarely at the nail on your dab rig, but at a distance of roughly 3-5 inches. If you prefer high temperature dabs to low temperature dabs, heat the nail until little red flecks or flaming red appear.
Step 2: It's Dabbing Time
Turn off your torch and move it out of the way after you believe your nail is sufficiently burned. On your dabber tool, gather your dab. Quartz nails should be allowed to cool for 30 to 45 seconds, whereas titanium nails should be allowed to cool for 10 to 20 seconds. Inhale right from your dab on the nail!
Exhale and relax as the third step.
Now all you have to do is sit back, exhale, and allow the medication do its work. If you're new to dabbing, we recommend beginning with smaller dabs and working your way up as you gain confidence in the practise.
